3 Concepts

For week 4 of this project we are to have 3 potential concepts designed and thought out. Through my research I have decided on the 3 areas of household recycling I will focus on.

• Can Crusher
• A system built into the kitchen bench for the quick disposable of cans and possibly plastic bottle and other co-mingle recycling. The crusher can be placed over the recycling bin so the crushed item can be dropped straight into the bin
• Test driven
• Record the sizes of items and force needed to crush various items
• Sketch designs
• Home Composting System
• A compartment under the counter top that can have food scraps, paper and cardboard added to make compost. Research will have to be done into what the most effective compost system for a small space like this would be. The compost can be collected at the end of the process and could be sold at various garden centers or to the council
• Research driven
• Sketch designs
• Co-Mingle and Waste Organizer
• This would be a system designed to make recycling done properly and reduce the number or contaminated bags and banned houses from recycling. The system can be designed so that a number of steps can be followed to make a fool proof process and can also be made as a way to teach children properly recycling practices.
• Concept driven
• Rapid idealization to find a suitable design
